The Drum CD

Each song is about four minutes long. They start with an A pattern, usually for 8or 12 measures (depending on the style of the song). A fill marks the change from the A pattern to the B pattern. This B pattern then plays for 8 or 12 measures, then a fill takes you back into the A pattern. This continues through the songs.

The problem with drum machines and most midi sequenced drums is that your ear can tell that every time the beat loops around, each drum sound is exactly the same volume. This gives the drums a very artificial and sterile sound. I painstakingly programmed these 12 songs so that the volume of each drum sound changes slightly and randomly through the songs. I also programmed slight variations in the beats. This gives the drum songs a more human feel.

I made the Drum CD for people who don't have a drum machine, or music software that lets them program drum songs. (Also for people who have drum machines or software, but just don't feel like taking the time to learn how to use them.)

I can't tell you how many times I've turned on the drum machine to jam with a student during a lesson and they say "Wow, that's cool, how much does one of those cost?" Good drum machines cost at least a couple of hundred bucks. I decided to put a variety of drum songs on one CD. It's easy to use and relatively cheap.
