How I Teach Classic & Hard Rock

Classic Rock & Hard Rock... That covers a lot of ground! I usually think of Classic Rock as the 60's & 70's rock, and a lot of the 80's Heavy Metal. I don't really care how you categorize it... it's all good!

For this kind of music I usually ask students to bring in tapes or CDs of the songs they want to learn. I keep a CD and tape player in the studio so we can listen to the stuff. Then I write the songs out in "tablature".

The skills and techniques I teach with Classic and Hard Rock include Power Chords, Barre Chords, Riffs, and Pentatonic and Diatonic Scales.

This is a genre of guitar playing that requires a good deal of practice, patience and dedication.
